Biography of Site Director, Ms. Angela

My name is Angela Miniutti. Ever since I was a child, I have always had a passion for teaching and learning. I can remember playing “school” in my room. My stuffed animals became the “students” and I would sit down and read my favorite books to them. I always dreamed of someday having my own classroom.

Angela MiniuttiMany years passed and this dream came true. I attended St. Joseph’s College where I received my B.A. in Early Childhood Education and then went on to receive my M.A. in Elementary and Special Education from Touro College.

I finally had my own classroom, with REAL children and a chalkboard, which was later replaced by the oh-so-cool SMART Board! I taught for 8 years at a NYC public school in Flushing, and 2 years in Springfield, VA. Most of my teaching experience lies in Early Childhood Education, which is why I am so excited to be part of the Highland Team.

After classroom teaching, I decided to branch out into higher education. I began working with St. John’s University as a Site Manager for an Early Childhood Program called Jumpstart. At Jumpstart our mission is to prepare preschoolers for the academic demands of kindergarten. My training and experiences have enabled me to be a stronger leader, share best practices, and support teachers.

When I’m not working, I enjoy challenging fitness routines, spending time with my family and friends and living a healthy lifestyle.
